so many shows to watch, so little time

I can't believe I'm saying this but...the Taiwanese entertainment scene has got the better of me. I used to be able to keep up with the number of shows they were producing, but now it seems as though they are churning them out by the bucketload. It's all about quantity now isn't it? I've lost track of the number of shows that Shao Wei has starred in. He acts faster than I can watch. Now that's just scary. Or am I getting old and out of it?

Lately because I've had a little time on my hands, I've decided to do some catching up. Yeayea, I still haven't given up on Taiwanese dramas. I don't know why, but they still appeal to me the most. I've tried Japanese and Korean but in the end I still love the Taiwanese wayyy more than any one else in the world. After a little snooping around on Youtube (I love Youtube), I've started to follow 2 more shows, in conjunction with 斗牛要不要.

First up: 原来我不帅

Main actors & actresses: JJ Lin Jun Jie, Nicky Li Jiu Zhe & 1 more guy and 3 girls that I've never seen before

Storyline & Appeal: I like JJ and Nicky, even more so the combo of the two, that's why I gave this drama a chance. It's about 3 not very good looking guys who end up with 3 pretty girls - probably trying to show that even guys who aren't that good looking can still charm pretty girls without using their looks. It's a really crappily funny show. Everything is exaggerated e.g. facial expressions and it's just a show you can sit back, relax and laugh away without thinking too much. I caught myself laughing out loud a couple of times whilst watching the 1st episode (yes, they have only just broadcasted their 1st episode last week!!) because the funny scenes are so unexpected. JJ and Nicky are really humourous and are surprisingly good actors. I knew already from Hana Kimi that JJ was a good actor who had potential. Someone finally realised his talent and promoted him from guest star to lead actor. He's very good and naturally funny too!!

Episodes: Only 2 so far. Come on! I'm dying to watch the 3rd one!!

Second show: 恶女阿楚

Main actors & actresses: Joanne Zheng Zi Qiao, Sam Wang Shao Wei, Chen Yi, Genie Zhuo Wen Xuan

Chen Yi

Storyline & appeal: I'm watching this because of Shao Wei and Chen Yi. They are really, really cute in the show. Chen Yi is so good looking that I can't stop watching. Shao Wei has taken a 180 degree turn in his acting - he used to act in the typical support role as Mr. Cool guy (whom every girl thinks is hot) who loves the lead actress but in the end loses out to the lead actor because the lead actress loves the lead actor. And as he quietly steps out of the picture, he manages to score the support actress instead. In this show, he acts as a really kind-hearted, slightly toot (傻瓜) kindda guy. He thinks that the world is perfect with perfect people in it and is ALWAYS nice to everyone. He always sees the good side of people and abhorrs violence. He's so nice that even the meanest person is obliged to be nice to him because they just can't believe such a nice person still exists in this world.

I think the main point of this story is to show the audience that even though some people have all the money in the world, they are not happy. Conversely, others are poor yet happy and loved because of family and good friends. As long as you have support from your loved ones, there's nothing that's impossible to bear.

One thing I really didn't like about this show is that they played the female characters out to be so awful and the males so sweet and caring. The females are loud, bossy, rude and tempermental - sometimes I just want to tell them to shut up through the computer screen. Because of Shao Wei's Mr. Nice guy nature clashing with Qiao Qiao's 野蛮 personality, we have a good show on our hands!! Excellent acting skills from the cast. Personally I think the story plot can be improved but other than that it's another typical average drama.

Episodes: 24
