exciting new music

I was complaining awhile ago that I was bored of my music because I've heard it all to death.

I now have something exciting and new.

I am currently listening to...

This is Chris Daughtry, who came in at number 4 on the 5th season of American Idol (the one where Taylor Hicks won). He's the lead singer of this band (named after himself). Their music is essentially rock with all the guitars and drums (similar to Dean Geyer's but Daughtry's is less poppish).

This album sold really well in the U.S. and beat out all the other American Idol contestant albums - "The album is currently the #1 album of the 2007 Billboard and Calendar Year in the entire music industry. In addition it is also the 6th best selling digital album of all time." (Wikipedia)

I am addicted. I heard his first single "It's not over" on the radio a couple of times and liked it immediately, that's how I discovered him. I like all the tracks on his album so far - some angry, some sad - his voice is very powerful and rockish (lol can't find the words to describe it).

Chris wrote & co-wrote 10 out of the 12 tracks on the album and there's one song that's co-written by Ben Moody - "What about now". Chris sounds a bit like the lead of Nickleback.

Good thing about this album: If you like one, you'll like all the tracks because they sound similar.

Bad thing about this album: Halfway through you may get sick of it because all the rock and guitars and drums may get grating. It's also a pity that the background music drowns out Daughtry's voice sometimes.

My favourite track: I think every track comes close to each other but I'm most familiar with "It's not over" so I still like that the most at the moment. "Feels like tonight" comes close - it's a feel good song. "What I want" is a super chill out-play air-guitar-jump-around-in-your-room kindda song - it is very loud and great for rocking out with the whole electric guitar thing.

Something slightly different: "Breakdown" is slightly lighter - shows off Daughtry's vocals, "There and back again"

Noisiest tracks: "What I want", "Gone"

I have a feeling my brother may like this album - just for the noise it makes.
