updates
I've been helping my aunt out with some stuff for the South East Asian Geography Association (I hope that's what it stands for) conference she headed at Nanyang Girls' High this week. There were professors and other academics from all over the world here to attend it. Imagine: more than 300 academics from all over the world gathering to speak and learn more about geography. I met people from the UK, US, Frace, Australia, Nigeria, Malaysia, India, Iran, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan etc. PHEW! The Australians and the Americans were the most laid-back I reckon. They were the only people who asked me if there was beer served at the conference. 1 American came for the conference in a casual shirt and shorts. Some people came in slippers. I couldn't control my excitement when I saw the Australians so I HAD to ask this Aussie guy which part of Aus he was from (Sydney...too bad) but he was super nice. It was a fun experience besides the OCCASSIONAL boredom we (Sylvia and I) had to go through.
Over here I would like to firstly thank Syl for helping me out (if not I would be soOo super bored by myself). Then I would like to thank my aunt for giving me this opportunity. Then I would like to thank all the professors and staff at NIE for being so super nice to Syl and I. The professors at NIE are really not what I expected them to be - at first glance you wouldn't think that they were professors. One 50 year old professor was sitting on a tabletop swinging her legs whilst I was being introduced to her and another professor (I love u A/P Chang!! :P) treated us like old buddies so we didn't feel nervous at all going to them for help or even speaking to them even though they were professors. So there are still SOME nice people left in Singapore after all.
Went to the Singapore expo yesterday - I went to look at lappies and my bro wants a new camera. What's up with guys and cameras? Is this sudden interest in photography a phase that they go through??? Anyway the expo was CRAZY crowded yesterday and it only was a THURSDAY. I hate school hols. *argh* We could hardly move in there.Last night I went to ACS(I) to attend a concert that their symphonic band had put up, in support of my aunt's youngest son = my cousin, who's in the band. It was pretty good actually. I didn't like the flamboyant conductor or the crappy MC's or the poor lighting or the ACJC band. BUT the ACS(I) symphonic band was good. That's about it. For that I sat through 3 hours of horn blowing. There were like 150 of them on-stage for the final few performances (combined AC bands) - I think all that energy going into the blowing can be harnessed and used for lighting my house for a few days. I just realised that ACS(I) is huge and very nice. Much nicer than MGS man. I was SHORTCHANGED. Girls always get the lesser deal. Sexist.Been enjoying myself but it's all very tiring. Time to go back to brainless Xbox WWE games. Till next time!~Everything happens for a reason. If you can't see His hand trust His heart.
