so close yet so far part II

Slimy Italians won! I can't believe it. Everything went wrong for the French! My jinx hadn’t been broken, and this is the end of the World Cup.
What a night (arguably morning since it was 3am for me)…All the matches I’ve watched has led up to this one. This was the one that mattered. I wasn’t originally going to watch it but then my brother said, “You watched every other match, how can you NOT watch the final???” So fine, I did.
When the closing ceremony started, I saw Il Divo sing that slowww song with Toni Braxton and man, did I miss that La Copa song by Ricky Martin. It just seemed like a more appropriate song than “Time of our life”. :S I nearly fell asleep then.
What a match! I was really rooting for the French. They had played better teams and beat them e.g. Brazil. They were the underdogs man. No one thought that they would make it thus far. Whereas Italy could hardly break Australia. Besides, I will never forgive the Italians (I believe it was Grosso) for that slimy penalty against Australia. NEVER!!!
Everything was happening in the first 10 minutes. In the 2nd minute, Henry (king of fouls & offsides) ran right smack into an Italian and was lying on the floor unable to move for the next few minutes whilst a medic sponged him head with an ice pack. For a moment when he walked off the pitch, I thought it was over for the French. In the first 2 minutes too!!! All the French looked worried of course, since Henry is one of their prized players. (By the way, I just realised that majority of the French players are black!! Why??) But after a whiff of the strong smelling salts that one of the medics thrust under his nose, Henry was back on his feet as if nothing had happened. Everyone cheered and breathed a sigh of relief. Even I did.
Then in the 7th minute, France scored a penalty. I was ecstatic man! I jumped right out of the bed and sat up staring at the screen. Zidane (king of penalties) scored it…by a few cm ok. The ball went in and hit the top of the net and just BARELY crossed the line.
Then the yellow cards came flying fast as Italy (Zambrotta) scored one in the 5th minute, followed by France (Sagnol & Diarra) in the 12th & 76th minute respectively.
It was so scary that the Italian manager started to chew on his fingernails. And then bloody Italy (Materazzi) scored a corner in the 19th minute. I have to say it was quite a good goal though. Italians are so slimy ok. They kept tripping the French up & injuring them when the referee didn’t look. And they went for the good players too. What’s the point of playing a game when you don’t play fair? That’s zero sportsmanship man. So then it was back to square 1 with 1-1.
I had to go to the loo so bad in the first few minutes but refused to tear my eyes away from the screen until half time. It was damn exciting man. Like clash of the titans. I dislike the Italians but I must admit that they are very smooth players. They score when you least expect it. Moreover, they had 18% higher possession of the ball in the first half, which was dangerous too.
2nd half of the match was boring man, although the French were dominating & stepping up to the game more. I was falling asleep – nothing much was happening. It was a heart-stopping moment in the 61st min as the Italians scored another goal but only to be disallowed as it was offside. They had to go into extra time because after 90mins it was still 1-1.
And then during the 110th min, a stupid FOUL-MOUTHED Italian player said something to provoke Zidane so badly that Zidane reacted and smashed his head into the Italian player’s chest, causing him to fall. That earned him a red card as he left in shame. OH NO!!! France was gone by then. Playing a man short is never a good thing. Especially without Zidane. Malouda even got a yellow card for trying to intervene for his team mate. Man! You would think someone of Zidane’s reputation, experience and rank (Captain of France) would react in a better manner than that. I wonder what the slimy FOUL MOUTHED Italian said. Apparently it was very degrading to Zidane's heritage and extremely racist. Which is so contradictive of the anti-racist statement that FIFA has been preaching!!! And then of course as everyone predicted, they went into a penalty shootout. Too bad Zidane was red carded, or else he would have taken a great penalty. Poor fella, he must feel suicidal now. I feel so sorry for him. If someone said that to me I would punch the living daylights out of him too. He's only but human. What a way to retire. But he had been so good throughout the whole World Cup.

I guess sometimes people have to focus on the positives - like France who got so far as 2nd. I mean...2nd in the world is a big thing man, it's still something to be happy about. I guess we've been brought out to believe that first or nothing is the way to go. Other than first, you're a loser. But I think that all the 32 teams who qualified are winners.
My whole stomach was in knots man! I hate penalties! Anyway yea as I said, Italy won lah. They scored 5 penalties to 3. So close yet so far. I mean duh, with my bad luck the whole World Cup. Oh well. What can I say. I feel so sore. Now the whole craze is over, I’m going back to EPL. This world ain't fair.
Italy will take the cup knowing that the whole thing was a lie & they will be able to live with it because they have no conscience. Well at least Brazil & Spain tied for the fairplay award - now THAT was the only thing that was fair from this World Cup.
