August Rush in February

A 'lil boy captured our hearts today.

Photobucket

Well, my heart at least.

The girls and I went to watch the film 'August Rush'.

Photobucket

I didn't know what to make of it.
I thought that the cast and their acting was excellent but the plot was a little cliche and predictable.
The movie was a little slow moving as well and I wasn't sure what the significance of Robin Williams' character was.
I honestly only watched it for Freddie Highmore. I love that kid!! He is the next big thing. I promise. He is so much better than any of the young actors & actresses that I've seen so far. I've loved him since 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. The next thing I'm going to watch by him is 'The Spiderwick Chronicles', where he plays a pair of twins, which is going to be interesting.
I mean, just look at that innocent face. I can't believe he's 16 years old already. He only looks 11!! His voice is still squeaky!! At the tender age of 16, he's already been in 11 movies (including 1 voice-over).

You know, when I watched him play the piano, it reminded me of Josh Groban because Josh also didn't know how to read music for a long time, but he still played the piano by hearing anyway. I think that that is just such an amazing and wonderful gift.

Speaking of Josh, his birthday is on the 27th Feb, the same as my father's birthday!! Josh is going to be 27 on the 27th!! Muahahhaha that's like me, 23 on the 23rd!!! :P Okok fine...it's a cheap thrill for me. But something very exciting is going to happen on the 27th. The Grobanites started a "Raise 27" project a few months ago to raise $27,000 for the kids in Africa. Until today, they have managed to collect close to $40,000!!! This cheque will be presented to Josh on his birthday and donated in his name. I can't wait to see his reaction when he receives it!!! :)

For now, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my week before I start class. BOooOooOoo...I hate not knowing what to expect. I miss uni. Come back!!!

.....................................................................................................................................

I just saw this video on Youtube. It's hilarious and Josh had a part to play in it!! I can't believe all the stars actually bothered to be a part of this. It's really rude but all the rude parts are bleeped out (which pissed me off because Josh's part is only like 5 secs and most of it was bleeped out).

Enjoy!! :)

guilt is a torturous feeling

I hate it when the guilty feeling takes over.

Because then I have no control.

Because then I will see clearly what a good-for-nothing I am.

Because then I see how selfish I am.

I'm so sorry.

I really am.

If only I knew. If only I was. If only.

Unfortunately...it's too late to apologize.

So...no. I am not well. My mind's a wreck with guilty thoughts. I am at present, emotionally unstable.

I shall write again when I'm in a better mood.

Our Rice House - 我们的饭店

Recently I've been following one of our new local dramas, titled "Our Rice House - 我们的饭店".

Photobucket

It's a show about 2 brothers who own a restaurant called "我们的饭店". Every episode tells of a different story which somehow links back to the importance of family and love. They use a steaming bowl of rice to resemble the warmth of home. If you are Chinese, you would know how much that means. There's just something so comforting about this drama. I feel that the writers have finally come up with something credible. In recent years the local dramas have become dull and unrealistic. This is one which somehow blends stories of day-to-day life that the average person can relate to, with elements of hope and love. Watching it will really make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and occassionally bring a tear to your eye.

They have a great cast led by Thomas Ong and Calvin Soh. I rate this drama 5 out of 5 stars. "Our Rice House - 我们的饭店" has 8 episodes in total and is shown every Monday at 8pm.

This show's theme song is "庆幸有你爱我" by our very own home-grown Joi Chua (Cai Chun Jia). I love it!! I love how the lyrics touch my heart & how I can relate to them. I love the tune of the song. It's very heart-warming and never fails to bring a tear to my eye.

Photobucket

Joi has just released her new album, titled "庆幸拥有蔡淳佳".

庆幸有你爱我~Joi Chua

1. If your lover betrayed you, what will your reaction be? Break it off immediately

2. How do you know if someone likes you? Girls have a 6th sense about things, unless your name is Syl *lol*

3. What will your dream wedding be like? One where I get to dance to "When you say you love me" by Josh Groban :)

4. Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you? No - I walk where God leads me

5. What's your ideal lover like? Someone I love who loves me back

6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone else? Both has it's ups and downs. I've been through both and there are good and bad sides to both.

7. If the person you like does not accept you, would you continue to wait for them to change their feelings? No - for so many reasons it's not possible to list them all.

8. If someone forces you to do something you do not like, but you know that it is in your best interests to listen, what would you do? I get that all the time. It depends on who it is. If it's my family or a good friend, I'd most probably listen. If my gut feeling is to go against it then I will. My gut feeling always wins.

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently? Yes - it's always something or another, isn't it?

10. What do you want most in life? To be happy & have more time to spend with loved ones

11. Is being tagged fun? er...it depends on the questions I guess

12. If you find out that your best friend is going out with your boyfriend/girlfriend, how would you react? Find out what's really going on first. Sever all ties with them if I have to.

13. Who is currently the most important person to you? My mom

14. What kind of person do you think I am? An extremely well-rounded, passionate, intelligent, hard-working, creative individual who puts too much pressure on himself. An idealist and perfectionist who gets disheartened easily. A pessimist moulded by circumstances. A crazily lame fella but you'll never have a dull moment when you're around him. The mood swings are scary though. Feels like I'm walking on eggshells sometimes.

15. What is the most unforgettable thing/event in your life? Talking to Josh Groban *faints again*

16. If the person you secretly like cannot recognise you, what would you do/how would you react? It's ok because I usually like people whom I don't know personally!! I like the mystery *lol*.

17. Would you give your all in a relationship? If I decide to go into a relationship then yes, because the time I decide to go into a relationship is the time I will be prepared to be with the person for a long time.

18. If you fall in love with two persons simultaneously, who would you pick? It depends on who the 2 people are, really. I think it's really unlikely to love 2 people equally - most of it is about chemistry and the feeling you get when you are with that person. Who is the first one you want to share good news/bad news with? Who is the one you wish you were with when you are down? Who makes you smile when you think of him/her?

19. What type of friends do you like? People who make me laugh. People who understand and trust me & vice-versa. It's really about the chemistry. My friends are all different in character but when we come together we just clique. It's like magic!

20. If you played a prank on someone, and he/she fell for the trick, what would you do? That depends on the person's response. If they laughed it off, then I'd laugh it off. If they started to cry because they hated it then I'd feel immensely guilty.

Collin & Adrian

I'm so proud!! :)

Adrian and Collin are gym buddies . Adrian is hearing-impaired, so they communicated in sign-language when they didn't want the other teams to learn about their strategies. Pretty handy eh?

Adrian has a spirit that's really admirable. Despite being hearing-impaired, he never let what others would call a disability hinder the team's progress. During an interview, he said that he never thought about it but focused on doing everything necessary to win.

Congradulations on the excellent work - they deserve every bit of glory & prize money they got - thumbs up!!

V day wishes

Happy V day everyone!!

Today my sis and I are going to watch PS: I love you!! I hope it's good, despite crummy reviews from some.

Today my wish for my friends who are looking for love is for them to be able to find love.

My wish for my friends who are running away from love is for them to be able to run away successfully.

My wish for my friends who are silently in love with someone is for them to pluck up the courage and express their love (before it's too late *cue music - it's too late, to apologizeeeeeee yeaaaaaaa*)

My wish for my friends who are struggling - love is supposed to be a happy, blessed thing/feeling. If you are not experiencing that, then get out of it now. It's simple but you make it complicated.

"For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another."

CNY

The first leg of Chinese New Year has come to an end. I am tired. It has been 4 days of non-stop eating, talking, running around and playing mahjong.

The one thing I look forward to each CNY is steamboat with my mom's side. My mom makes awesome steamboat like no other I've ever had.

And this is just part of what was being offered that day

Happy Chinese New Year!!!

To all those born in the Year of the Rat, this is a pretty accurate description that I got from Wikipedia:

Being the first sign of the Chinese zodiacs, rats are leaders, pioneers and conquerors. They are charming, passionate, charismatic, practical and hardworking. Rat people are endowed with great leadership skills and are the most highly organized, meticulous, and systematic of the twelve signs. Intelligent and cunning at the same time, rats are highly ambitious and strong-willed people who are keen and unapologetic promoters of their own agendas, which often include money and power. They are energetic and versatile and can usually find their way around obstacles, and adapt to various environments easily. A rat's natural charm and sharp demeanor make it an appealing friend for almost anyone, but rats are usually highly exclusive and selective when choosing friends and so often have only a few very close friends whom they trust.

Behind the smiles and charm, rats can be terribly obstinate and controlling, insisting on having things their way no matter what the cost. These people tend to have immense control of their emotions, which they may use as a tool to manipulate and exploit others, both emotionally and mentally. Rats are masters of mind games and can be very dangerous, calculative and downright cruel if the need arises. Quick-tempered and aggressive, they will not think twice about exacting revenge on those that hurt them in any way. Rats need to learn to relax sometimes, as they can be quite obsessed with detail, intolerant and strict, demanding order, obedience, and perfection.
Rats consider others before themselves, at least sometimes, and avoid forcing their ideas onto others. Rats are fair in their dealings and expect the same from others in return, and can be deeply affronted if they feel they have been deceived or that their trust has been abused. Sometimes they set their targets too high, whether in relation to their friends or in their career. But as the years pass, they will become more idealistic and tolerant. If they can develop their sense of self and realize it leaves room for others in their life as well, Rats can find true happiness.

According to tradition, Rats often carry heavy karma and at some point in life may face an identity crisis or some kind of feeling of guilt. Rats are said to often have to work very long and hard for everything they may earn or have in life. However, a Rat born during the day is said to have things a bit easier than those who are born at night. Traditionally, Rats born during the night may face extreme hardships and suffering throughout life. Rats in general should guard themselves against hedonism, as it may lead to self-destruction. Gambling, alcohol and drugs tend to be great temptations to Rat natives.

Traditionally, Rats should avoid Horses, but they can usually find their best friends and love interests in Monkeys, Dragons, and Oxen.

Professions include espionage, psychiatry, psychology, writing, politics, law, engineering, accounting, detective work, acting, and pathology.

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!!!

I am currently listening to: Amber Guo Cai Jie (郭采洁).

Photobucket

Hmmm her album cover doesn't do her justice because she looks prettier on TV.

She is only 21 this year and is a new singer. I only got to know about her because she and Joshua Lu Xue Rui have been promoting their albums together (because they are from the same company). Both of them went on this entertainment show and Lu Xue Rui sang this song from her album and I really liked it. She's actually quite a good singer! At first I thought she was another one of them "cute & sweet" ones, but she actually has a really pretty voice that I've never heard before. It's really unique. And she really is a very cute 'lil girl, so I think she will go far. Her album is titled "ying xing chao ren" = Invisible superman...I think that's the direct translation haha!!

Anyways I think her voice is really pretty and I'd beat someone up to have that voice LOL!!! So check her album out if you have the time :)

~ta for now!!

Chinese New Year madness

It's going to be the Year of the Rat soon.

Chinese New Year = Chaotic Singapore

You can't go anywhere now without being squashed by hundreds of people who are waiting to sweep the shelves of supermarkets.

Every Chinese New Year is like this shopping frenzy. Clothes, food, flowers, decorations etc. There are people doing last minute shopping everywhere. Just pure madness. How can people finish so much food?!?

Speaking of CNY, my mom, aunt and I will go buy flowers to celebrate this festive season every year. I love flowers & plants. They fascinate me as much as creatures do. There are just so many new varieties to see every year.

The trunks of these plants are so weird. They look a little like ginseng.
Photobucket

There were orchids in all different patterns and colours

Photobucket

I like this plant. It's got pretty red berries.
Photobucket

They come in snail shells too
Photobucket

And bottles.
Photobucket

I love Gerberras.
Photobucket

They even have heart-shaped plants for Valentine's Day!!
Photobucket

This is the flower of a ginger plant. I couldn't believe it!!
Photobucket

I love the pineapple plants too
Photobucket

How cool is this cactus?
Photobucket

I got fooled by this plant. I thought that each flower bulb was a different colour. In the end it was actually stuck on by someone!!
Photobucket

Colour, colour and more colour

These little trees are so cute - the leaves are so pretty
Photobucket

It's a wonder how they managed to twist this plant
Photobucket

These are flowers of an onion bulb. I really, really wanted one but for some reason by mom wasn't so keen on it. I think they attract too many bugs.
Photobucket

I think this is the pitcher plant. I need one of these.
Photobucket

That's it for now!! Happy CNY!!

just not good enough

Do you sometimes feel that no matter what you do, it's never good enough?

Recently I've been asking myself the same question.

Be too nice to your friends and they walk all over you.
Don't be too nice to your friends and they wonder why you are so mean.

Be too nice to your siblings and they walk all over you.
Don't be too nice to your siblings and they accuse you of being a bully.

What did I do to deserve this?

Where do I draw the line?

早知道 . 愛

I got stuck on 盧學叡's 早知道 . 愛.

Photobucket

It's the first single off his debut album.

It's been on repeat mode for an hour.

I don't know what it is but I love it.

However I still don't really get the lyrics:

.
.
.
What a nice rainy Saturday afternoon.

Seems like a waste not to spend it sleeping.
