GROBANITIS

*sigh* What a night to remember.

What a night.

What an awesome night.

I was left speechless & begging for him to come back.

When Syl and I got to the concert theatre, it was already packed with people (I have to say, the average age of people there was about 40). We realised that the merchandise counter was packed as well so we rushed to get in line - the queue was damn long and there were only 2 people at the counter. We finished buying our merchandise just in time to get in and hear Katie Noonan (Aussie singer) start the show. She's the opening act for all 11 of Josh's Aus concerts (the lucky chick). She's actually not bad. I love her voice but I think she needs to sing nicer songs *lol*. Anyways she's quite nice cuz after she finished singing for half an hour, she said that she would be at the merchandise counter during the interval if anyone wanted to get some CDs signed or just say hi.

My "Awake" World Tour poster (blurry cuz I took this pic whilst the poster was on the wall *lol*)

They were selling autographed Sweeneys for around AUS$90!! I can't believe it...I know some of the fans have been saying that the tour merchandise is expensive...but the money goes to the Josh Groban foundation anyways. The Grobanites are excellent when it comes to charity work. Find them here: http://www.grobanitesforcharity.org/

And silly me saw people carrying copies of the concert guide or whatever they call it...where it looks like a magazine where they introduce Josh & his band etc. and I thought they were giving it out...you know, like whoever goes to the concert gets one? But nooooo...you have to BUY them and it's AUS$30 for ONE. I was shocked because almost everyone had a copy in their hand!!

I was so anxious during the interval that I nearly threw up. Anyway it started sharp at 9pm on the dot (I love punctuality) with his first single from "Awake", "You are loved". It was awesome. His vocals as always were awesome. His corny jokes were so funny. His band was EXCEPTIONAL. I love his 6-piece band. They are sensational - the best musicians ever. I had the best time of my life - the music was awesome. His violinist, Lucia Micarelli, was so uber hot tonight in her sexy dress with a new hairstyle - she had her own solo segment & she literally played her ass off. I need her new CD. When she plays & Josh sings, it's like a love duet. Why don't they just hook up already. Watch this awesome vid of her play at the concert:

His guitarist Tariquh Akoni jamming it - he looked like he was at a rock concert

At one point Josh walked in from the back of the concert hall and was standing just behind my row. I didn't realise it until Syl started whacking me and gesturing to this tall guy at the back...IT WAS HIM. JOSH GROBAN IN THE FLESH. OH MY GAWD. I was so stunned that it took awhile for it to sink in. I probably should have reached out to touch him. Oh well. Seeing him up-close was more than enough. He is so tall man. And SOOOO gorgeous. And he was singing "In her eyes" whilst he walked around and mingled with the audience and posed for pictures. *sigh*

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Which reminds me. I'm SOOOO damn pissed that they didn't allow us to take pictures in the theatre. When Syl tried to take a picture, the security asked her to put her camera away. But I kept seeing flashes going off in the front rows. Damnnit.

But here are some pics courtesy of some fans at the official Josh Groban site:

That's Joshie's doggie, Sweeney, a Wheaten Terrier. So adorable!!

Josh sang, played the piano whilst singing, played the drums, played the synthesizer....everything! And he sang "Remember when it rained"....live. That is my favourite song EVER. I love watching him play it live on tv and this time it was right in front of my eyes and ears and it was AWESOME. It is like the best song ever written, seriously. I kid you not.

Listening to him live is like listening to his CD...just heaps better. His notes are pitch perfect and I wonder how he can sing for 2 hours and still manage to belt out song after song without getting a sore throat/losing his voice. There is no other word to describe him but "awesome". Maybe "amazing".

He sang every song that I wanted him to sing (except for one). Best songs of the night? SOOOO hard to choose but I'd have to go with "Remember when it rained" and "Machine". They were exceptional.

At one point someone went up to the stage and passed him a goodie bag. He looked down and took it and said "thank you!" and then said "ooohhh what is it?! AL-CO-HOLLLL!!!" in a really kiddy, excited way.

Talking to the soft-toy bird that also came with his goodie bag..."hello! I'm a drunk bird!!" *laughs*

The thing about Josh is that he has had phenomenal sucess & is so super talented but is yet still so grounded. I love people like that (plus 100 points). Everyone who knows him has said that he is one of the nicest, most caring people ever (plus 100 points). And everything is so simple when it comes to Josh. It's just him and music. He's not a materialistic person. And he's giving back too, through his Josh Groban foundation (plus 100 points). And he doesn't smoke (plus 100 points). And don't we all think that guys who are intensely passionate about something are smokin'?? (plus 200 points)

He's such an inspiration to me because he shows me that it doesn't matter even if you're super talented and you're successful, you still have so much more to learn from others.

I have been so blessed to be able to hear him sing. No one else comes close to Josh. I repeat, NO ONE. If only I could bring all of you there to experience what I did...you would agree with me.

This has been the best night of my life. He is now on his way to Sydney, then Brisbane, then back to Melbourne, then Adelaide & finally Perth. Then it's off to the Philipines and that probably concludes his "Awake" tour.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

End of the show *sobsob*

If there was anything to complain about, it was how the concert was TOO DAMN SHORT. 2 hours. 2 hours!!! That's shorter than a movie. There should be more interaction with the crowd...his concerts in America were better...he would sit on the stage with a kid and sing and sign autographs...people were standing around him, singing with him etc. It was so much more personal. Aus is too laidback. But it was so cute to see them cuddle and hold hands whilst they swayed to Joshie's love songs. Awwwwww...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

At the end of the show he always thanks the audience by putting his right hand over his heart and takes a deep bow

At the end of the show, I saw this lady who declared to her husband loudly, "HE IS THE HOTTEST!!!" :) I couldn't help smiling.

I would give everything up in a heartbeat for him.

countdown

As the big day draws closer (countdown: 2 days 8.5 hours), I feel like I can't concentrate on anything anymore besides think of it (OMG I sound like I'm getting married).

All I can think about now is "where is Josh going to land in Melbourne", "which hotel is he staying at", "I hope he's not jetlagged" etc.

*huiyin wonders when she will grow out of these things - she is, after all, not 16 anymore*

In fact, I'm so excited for this concert that I don't really want Friday to come at all in case I get the famous post-Groban concert depression.

I can't believe he cancelled his Asian tour. I must be the luckiest person in the world to be here now.

life is a process of discovery

I just discovered a few things about myself today.

I enjoy going to the movies...alone.

I enjoy taking long bus rides...alone.

I enjoy shopping...alone.

I enjoy standing in the middle of nowhere and gazing up at the blue sky...alone.

Perhaps being alone sometimes isn't so bad after all.

You get heaps of time to think. To stop and smell the flowers. To appreciate the scenery. To do things in your own time.

You don't have to be responsible for what you think or say. You don't get awkward moments. You don't get judged. You are allowed to be selfish.

I'm beginning to enjoy my own company :)

I'm dying here!

Besides my usual rant of, "I'm in deep poop because I can't finish my work" and "OMG the exams are like HERE" and "How am I ever going to survive this semester"...I need to get something else out of my system.

Why is it that when I'm trying my darnest to forget someone, every bloody thing just reminds me of that person?? They just come out of nowhere like evil things and smack me on the head!! I swear it's getting major annoying.

Also, my Joshie is coming soon!! It feels like AGES away though! Today I emailed the Australian Idol team to suggest that Josh go on the Idol show. They said that they would take it into consideration, but who knows? Anyway it will be heaps exciting. Josh can give the Idols some tips cuz he's so UBER talented. If it really happens, those Idols have to be thanking me for being the luckiest people on earth.

I'm determined to have a fulfilling holiday. After all, it's the last month I have left in Uni. Going to treasure every bit of it.

a walk to remember

After watching it for the gazillionth time, "A Walk to Remember" is still my favourite movie of all time and the greatest love story that I have ever known.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I never fail to dissolve into a bucket of tears after the movie ends.

Of course every time I watch it I hope that Mandy Moore's character doesn't die, which makes the whole thing so tragic.

But it is a really an amazing movie - Mandy Moore and Shane West were PERFECT in their roles.

You couldn't have finished the movie and not fallen in love with them or their love for each other.

This is the movie that made me believe in THE ONE. This movie inspired me to believe in faith and love and hope and beauty.

This movie made me believe in angels.

Quotes:

"Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful."

"I do not need a reason to be angry with God"

"Our love is like the wind. I can't see it, but I can feel it."

I'm going to blog about the soccer friendly between Aus & Argentina soon but I need to get pics off Syl first!!

For now, just some random pictures...

Saw that whilst shopping at Safeway today...It's Cadbury's new Desserts selection...it's Fudge Brownie! How cool is that!! It tastes really nice too with it's chewy chocolate fudge brownie centre (although I have to admit that it's a tad too sweet)!!

And I'm so glad that Arnott's brought their strawberry Tim Tams back for Breast Cancer charity! It is uber nice (although again, a tad too sweet). I'm all sugared out!!

This is Cheryl a.k.a Mrs. Kim posing with this box of tea which says "Be Wise". It's so cute cuz they have "Be Sleepy", "Be Happy" etc. in their range as well. I love Safeway.

Have a great weekend everyone!! How ECSTATIC am I that it's the weekend?!

heartbroken

heartbroken.
It's over.
I knew it. What was I thinking? What did I expect?
It hurts. Really. really. Really bad. Physically. Surprisingly.
I will mourn.
And get over it with ice-cream binging.
I hope.
I can.
I will.
Yin is closing her heart now and for a long time.

Aussie Idol 2007

I only just started watching Aussie Idol'07 today (beginning of Top 12), which is saying a lot since I usually start watching from beginning - where they start from all the crummy people in the ridiculous costumes screaming like banshees and what not. But I'm getting old and the show is getting boring so I cannot take all that nonsense anymore so I thought I'd wait for the Top 12 to be uncovered before I committed myself this year.

I was surprised this year because the Top 12 all have different personalities and they are extremely diversified in their singing styles & genres. It is quite interesting really. There are even a handful of 16/17 year olds who are pretty talented.

My eye is on Matt (17) and Tarisai (20) at the moment based on this one performance that I've seen...although most of the contestants were pretty good. Matt has this X factor and calmness that is very credible for a 17 year old. Tarisai is awesome. Her voice is unbelievably powerful and she hits every note on the dot, no matter how hard it is. *All the contestants actually look much better on tv than in their pictures *lol*

Matt

Tarisai

I think Lana (17) is so beautiful and her voice is very sweet but she has no stage prescence, which is unfortunate. Compared to the other girls, her voice is rather weak & she looks nervous all the time.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Lana

I think I know who the bottom 3 will be: Carl, Marty & maybe Lana...the last one is hard to tell because Lana is pretty so people will be voting for her but this bottom 3 is based on the 3 people who gave the worst performances for me.

I think Ben (17) is a hot contender as well. He's got a cute smile and nice eyes and he sings pretty well (though I was shocked to hear his voice cuz it really sounds uber feminine).

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Ben

I think a good performance comprises of someone who has great stage prescence, creativity, a great voice and good clothes.

All in all, today's performance was pretty good - I'm impressed. The contestants seem to get better each year. Hopefully it continues to gets better from here.

out of practice

I have a love-hate relationship with TV Links (http://www.tv-links.co.uk/)

It has the largest collection of TV shows, Anime, Cartoons, Sports & Movies that I have seen to date.

Best part is that you can just scroll down the screen and click whatever show you want and voila! there's your show.

I'm loving TV links at the moment because I've been dying to watch "Out of Practice" (American sitcom) for ages but they haven't released the DVD and they only show it like once in ages on TV in the wee hours of the morning.

I think the show is great but obviously America doesn't think so, since it only ran for 1 season before it got cut.

Main hi-light & funniest person in show:

Ahhhh the gorgeous Christopher Gorham

It just came out on TV links!! *yin kisses the person who put it up*

Looks like I'll be in hibernation mode for awhile *grins* :)

yeayea I joined Facebook

I joined Facebook.

I had my reasons.

I think I still prefer Friendster cuz it's more user friendly and the layout is nicer.

Each has it's own benefits I guess, that's why most people have both.

I joined so many ridiculous groups, it's ridiculous.

I even found some hilarious pictures of Josh.

Cover on my heart

Cover on my heart ~Guy Sebastian

Everyday feels all the same
9 to 5 gets so mundane
But something breaks with just one glimpse of you

I would stare so long awhile
Trying to tell you with my eyes
I didn’t say a thing I thought you knew

I wish I never did assume, coz

I was gonna tell you today
I even wrote the words I would say
I finally found the courage
But now it’s too far

It took me all this time to reveal
What everything about you does to me
So tell me why did I keep a cover on my heart?

Spend all night trying to explore just
How I’d tell you I adore ya
And how I’m moved by every word you say

But today there’s an empty space
I’ve found you gone without a trace
I wish that I coulda told you yesterday

I was gonna tell you today
I even wrote the words I would say
I finally found the courage
But now it’s too far

It took me all this time to reveal
What everything about you does to me
So tell me why did I keep a cover on my heart?

It feels like my point of existence

Has vanished with you in the distance
Whatever it takes I’ll persist
Till I see your face again

I was gonna tell you today
I even wrote the words I would say
I finally found the courage
But now it’s too far (It's too far, to get to where you are)

It took me all this time to reveal
What everything about you does to me
So tell me why did I keep a cover on my heart?

Mommy, where does grape jam come from?

I was just wondering where I can buy the grape jam they give with the big breakfasts at McDonalds.

Where do you think they sell it?

I've always wanted to get it since I was a kid.

That is the best jam ever. YOu can eat it on it's own.

Yum.

hoo boy - the weekend is FINALLY here

I.am.so.tired.

I.am.so.glad.the.weekend.is.here

I was at the RSPCA today for my first day of volunteering.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I was going to post up a picture of my name tag but somehow the picture kept turning out blur so I gave up.

Anyways I was there for 4 hours - spent 1 hr watching how to bathe the dogs and watching the professional dog groomer cut the fur of dogs. Another 1 hr cleaning up for the day. Another 2 hours bathing and blow-drying this huge ass German Shepherd. I'm not complaining though - she was super well-behaved and extremely adorable. She looks something like this dog but she has floppy ears:

All the dogs that came in today were so friendly. They hardly made noise and you could just go up and pet them and they love it.

..........................................................................................................................................................................

I just happened to be awake and the AC Milan v Sevilla game came on so I thought I'd watch it since I haven't watched soccer in ages. Italian club vs. Spanish club, who can resist?

Besides, Kaká was looking cuter than usual in his red & black stripey jersey. And he scored a deflect off his penalty too and flashed his 8 pack *lol*.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Sorry Syl you missed out

Sevilla lost their number 16 player, Antonio Puerta, 4 days ago to multiple organ failure due to cardiac arrest whilst he was on the field. He was only 22 years old with a girlfriend who's pregnant. All the players today were wearing black armbands and sported his name on their jerseys below their numbers. R.I.P.

I was happy for a sec when Gattuso got injured in the head near his eye and started bleeding so he needed stitches - I can't stand the fella cuz he's so bullish and unrefined.

The game ended 3 to AC Milan and 1 to Sevilla.
