humans are greedy creatures

Humans are greedy creatures. Nothing is ever enough. They say they want to set a goal. They arrive at it. Then they set new goals. Higher and higher. What happens when there is no more they can do to get what they want? Humans (and I say this as if I do not belong to the race) see something they like about other people, like, "oohhh..I wish I was as rich as so-and-so." OR "ooohhh...I wish I was as pretty as so and so." "If ONLY my life was like so-and-so's." Why can't they be happy with what they have? Why can't people just accept that everyone is different and just be content? In pursuit of their goals they turn into ugly people. Is it worth it?

In the end, all that matters is what God sees.

What would you like Him to see in you?

children

I look at my nephew who's 18 months old at the moment and I wonder what kind of person he will grow up to be in the future. Will he be a smart like his parents are? Will he be handsome? Will he be a kind person?

I read Ren Fu's (of 5566) blog at http://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/the_true0828 . His longtime girlfriend just gave birth to a baby girl and he looks like the happiest man alive at the moment. Children bring so much joy at first...then when they get older what happens?

Think carefully when you want to have children next time. You may regret it. They may become a burden.

grass is greener on the other side

How do you tell someone who always worries no matter what, NOT to worry?

How do you help someone when you know you can't?

How do you stop yourself from feeling helpless when you can't help?

The grass is always greener on the other side. ALWAYS.

Vivo city

Went to the much-talked-about Vivo City today with Syl. It reminds me of IMM. It's pretty big but we walked around it quite quickly. It sorta reminds me of Chadstone (Melbourne shopping centre) as well because it has a few shops which Chaddy has...like Diva, Boost Juice and Gloria Jeans. Syl and I were so excited to see Boost Juice that we were screaming like idiots *lol*. And I was super taken by their "Little Spain". They have this corner which has a row of shops from Spain. There's like Spanish chocolates, wine, clothes and even a FC Barcelona Shop there. I was just going wooowww...woowwww....*lol*. The cinema is nice and big (though we didn't go in to watch a movie) but Syl and I were saying that it still can't beat the one at Knox (in Melb).

Vivo City has all the big brands like Levi, Armani Xchange, Esprit etc....all the things that we can't afford so we just window shopped. And I love that fast food place..can't remember what it's called...I think it's Carl's Jr? Some American fast food joint. Their burgers are grilled and very tasty. Although a normal meal would cost you about $11 (burger, fries and re-fillable sodas). But the burgers are huge so Syl and I shared a meal. If you want a good meal, Vivo City will be the place for you because there is a wide variety of restaurants and snack places...and the food courts look very nice.

To check it out, go to http://www.vivocity.com.sg/

I HAVE to stop comparing Singapore with Melbourne. The grass is always greener on the other side. When I go back to Melb I want to come back to Singapore. So annoying.

That's about it for now. Tmr out with Juice and Peg. Ciao!!

home sweet home

I finally touched down at Changi Airport at 4pm yesterday. I must say that the flight was excellent. It was a new plane and the seating was 3-3-3 instead of your usual 3-4-3. The service was good and the plane left and arrived on time. Nothing went wrong. Even the food was nice. The movies weren't very interesting but it was on-demand and there were so many to choose from (quantity over quality). Oh right, the toilets were as usual dirty and small. But that's no surprise. Some people just can't aim right and pee into the right hole so they have to do it all over the floor.

Everything that I've seen so far still looks the same. Even my house looks the same. Except for a few additions of stuff to the walls and some new furniture...I think my house is starting to look like a karang guni storage place. There's stuff everywhere and nothing really matches...if I get my own place in future I'm going to make sure it doesn't look like that. I think it's cuz I actually live WITH people now. I love my room in Aus because I keep it the way I like it a.k.a neat and free from clutter. Yesterday when I walked into the room I share with my sister, I nearly fainted (for real). There was a whole chunk of space on the floor full of her stuff e.g. files, bags, books etc. I think my maid has been mopping around them and I don't blame her. It's just disgraceful. And my sister doesn't even have an excuse because she's already having hols. Even my brother who's having exams now is neater, although his books are all over the house but at least they are in piles. I can't stand it! I got home and immediately started arranging stuff, throwing stuff and cleaning stuff. I think I need my own room. I can't live like this anymore and I can't understand who can!!!

I told my family that I was going to be on the night flight but I took the morning one instead so guess how shocked they were to see me early (my pa played it cool though...he was like, "Oh, was your flight delayed?") *faints*.

I'm sitting at home mourning the loss of my favourite Aussie idol, Dean today (I say it like he's dead but he's not...he just got voted out of idol) amidst the cleaning up and unpacking. I hate Damien and Jess. Actually I hate their fans more. I'm inconsolable - don't talk to me about it. At least I can still watch him on youtube.

I love broadband.

I watched "The Departed" by Leo Dicap and Matt Damon...it was gory and gruesome with lots of blood and killings...and it was just gross. Didn't like the movie and never will like action and thriller movies. I have a weak heart. It's based on the Honky movie "Infernal Affairs". I didn't watch the whole of the original but I thought that the original was better. Leo Dicap and Jack Nicholson were really good though. I thought that Leo Dicap's eyeballs were going to pop out from denying that he was a mole *lol*.

And so back to cleaning.

daily scoop

I told you guys that I was a fan of the Daily Scoop ice-cream place near my house...we know the owner, Melissa, and she's actually from Monash Uni Gippsland...what a coincidence...and she picked up her ice-cream making skills from Melbourne...must go ask her about it...

Oh and remember our cooking spree??? I made sushi for the first time in my life (usually my mom does it) and it turned out like my mom's! Hurrah!!!

Amy dragged us to the cupcake place at Prahran Market that day...it's this fancy English place with English tea and scones and the most delicious and beautiful cupcakes EVER!!! If you come down to Melbourne you all have to try it. It's very pricy (1 cupcake is $3.50 - 1 cup of tea & 1 scone is about $8) but worth the experience.

all over

Now that my papers are all over, it's time to pack and leave and go home. Yesh, home sweet home.

This is the longest that I haven't been home ever since I started college.

Exams are bad for health so we had some retail therapy today. It was tiring but quite fun. We're going tomorrow again. And Sunday too *lol*. I'm so reluctant to pack because I dun tink I can fit ALL of my things into just 30kg. It's impossible. ARGH!!!

It's going to be 2007 soon. It's been a tough year, but also the year we've had the most fun (wait...I think I say that about every year).

Can time not pass so fast please? I want to enjoy my last year of uni slowly. Thanks.

You Communicate With Your Body
This isn't as bad as it sounds, it just means that you're a "touchy-feely" person. You need a lot of affection in your life. And for you, this means both giving and receiving little touches.Warm hearted, you bond with people easily. In fact, you often feel a little sad when you're not in the company of others.A little moody, you tend to be controlled by your emotions. But a bit hug always comforts you!
How Do You Communicate?

Darn...I knew it.

the last paper syndrome

The "last paper syndrome"

I'm having the "last paper syndrome". You know, that feeling you get when you are nearly there but not quite? It's uber annoying. I just finished 3 papers last week and I'm on to my last one next Wednesday before jetting home on the 13th Nov. Can't wait! This is actually the longest I've been away from home - around 9 months at a shot. I have TOO many things I need to do during the hols.

Before that, I just want to wish RARA ANG a HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY!!!
Can't believe she just turned 21 and I'm already on my way to my 22nd. *grumbles* (At least I have Syl and Amy to share my sorrows with *lol*)

Anyways, my 1st paper really sucked. And I mean REALLY sucked ass. 2nd & 3rd papers were not bad surprisingly and cross all my fingers & toes and even nose for the last one. That one really was supposed to take the kick before the 1st one came along and upstaged the whole show. Oh wellies. One can only hope for the best right?

Got many things on my mind at the moment besides exams. But I'll guess those will have to wait till after exams to get sorted.

Major shopping after exams...Syl I can't wait!!!

Going to Thailand with my mom and her friends/ex-collegues first - I jokingly told her that I didn't wanna go cuz I'm not part of the "senior citizens club" - but then I said ok after because I haven't been there and shopping is fantastic and I know her friends anyways *hmm maybe I am getting old*. Then it's off to Taiwan during Christmas with my family (I REALLY AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS - Li Hong you better be there!!)...It's the first time I'm gonna be out of Singapore during X'mas but it'll be a refreshing change to see how other countries spend it. Then in Jan I will be off to Hong Kong with Syl and her brother Brian. Whooohooo!!! More shopping!! Now this is called the "before I start working sydrome" *groan*.

Many many many more plans on the way...great...now I've got myself all excited I can't study. Boooo... :(

Yinny is listening to...

K ONE's new album: Love story - Romeo & Juliet ("ai de gu shi - Lou Mi Ou yu Zhu Li Ye)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

*~What can I say? You've got guys who can sing, dance, act and look good all packaged in 1 album. I am completely & utterly ADDICTED. K One is improving fast with each album. Their 1st single, "wei ni zai huo yi tian" is so catchy (cleverly incorporates "Flight of the Bumblebee") that I've played it a hundred times on repeat mode & still love it. Their slower songs like "ru guo mei you ming tian" and mid-tempo tunes like "fa xian ai" & "lang man yu hui" rock the house as well. Gone are the days of trying to be like Energy or going the poppy way...K One have carved out a new image for themselves & they are smokin'. It was definitely worth the wait.
